Sheigh Bonane Issa, Rukana Burundi

Sheik Issa is a revert to Islam and went by the name Bonane Claud. He was a member of the Roman Catholic church with Sheik Elyasi, then, later on, embraced Islam in 2008. He started learning under different Imams in Rugombo.

He began calling people to Islam in 2012 in one room and was renting with 9 Muslim families and 7 children in the Madrassah. Rukana, where he was located, was not easy to establish the faith, as it was not a Muslim area. But after 3 years, they were finally able to get a masjid built by Saudi’s and were well equipped to invite people to embrace Islam and currently have 23 Muslim families and 29 children in the Madrassah.

He is greatly thankful to Allah as well as the assistance and care shown to him by the Sheik Hazim Abu Ghazalah Islamic Centers, as they were not receiving any help from the Muslim community
